About Effingham Unfiltered

Effingham Unfiltered is a local podcast and news site for everybody who calls Effingham County home, from Springfield, Rincon and Guyton to Clyo and Egypt. Real people, real conversations, and the stories that matter around here, told straight.

What you’ll find here

  • News: what’s going on in county and city government, schools, roads and business.
  • Events: festivals, rides, markets, parades and everything worth showing up for.
  • Giving: fundraisers and the folks doing good for their neighbors.
  • Wins: hometown pride, from Teacher of the Year to the ball field.
  • Who Remembers?: stories from Effingham’s history and the legends who shaped it.

How the stories are made

Every week, an AI research assistant searches public sources such as county and city websites, the school district, local news outlets, churches, libraries and nonprofits, then writes short original summaries. Each story links to the sources it came from. AI can make mistakes, so check the original source before making plans, and if you spot an error, tell us and we’ll fix it.
